When I heard the news I held back tears, and tried to sound calm. I knew that I needed to be brave for my Mom. She was trying to be brave for me and my sister, as she didn’t want us to worry. We were trying to be brave for her. Out of this process, Bravelets™ was born.
I wanted to make something that my sister, my mom, my dad and I could all wear in the weeks leading up to her Mastectomy – a symbol that we could all look at and remember to be brave.
- Stephanie Hansen, Founder & CEO
There are times in all of our lives where we need to be brave – whether for ourselves, for our family, for our friends, or even for a complete stranger. Bravelets bracelets are more than just something to wear on your wrist. All Bravelets jewelry and accessories are symbols of hope, strength and courage. They are designed to help you be brave in the toughest of times.
The triangle is the strongest geometric shape. Bravelets jewelry is made to help you be strong and brave in tough situations. Therefore, Bravelets and triangles are a perfect pair. The triangle is incorporated not only into the Bravelets logo, but also in every item’s design. Plain and simple, the triangle represents strength, just like Bravelets.
Bravelets is not a non-profit organization. We are a for-profit company with giving at our core. To date, we have raised almost $3 million for thousands of very deserving causes. We believe in transparency. We believe in making a difference. We don’t believe in the phrase “a portion of proceeds will be donated….”. What does that mean? What portion, what proceeds? That kind of giving is confusing and unfulfilling to the customer. Our giving is clear, transparent, and easy to understand. When buying a product from Bravelets, you always know the exact amount being donated, and exactly where it is going. We want you to be confident in your purchase, and proud to have made a difference.
With Debby Tucker, President for the National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence. NCDSV Brave Page started in August 2013.
When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2011, I felt helpless. I wanted to “DO” something...but what could I do? Over the years we have received this exact same feedback from countless people going through similar situations. They wanted to DO something more than just buying a piece of jewelry or making a donation. They wanted to spread the word, raise awareness, help others to “be brave” and raise money for their cause. From this feedback, we launched Brave Pages!
In about 60 seconds, anyone can set up their own fundraising page on the Bravelets website. Create your page, share your link with friends, and BOOM - you are raising money and awareness for your cause! Think of it as crowd-funding, but with beautiful jewelry and with the added benefit of encouraging others to be brave! To date, we have helped over 6,000 individuals and nonprofits successfully raise money with Bravelets for anything from medical expenses to animal shelters to fighting to raise awareness for women’s causes.
